Summer

I’m officially on summer break, I survived the first year of uni. woohooo.. As of now, I’m exhausted. For the past couple of weeks I’ve neglected pretty much everything, dishes and laundry basket is stacking up, there are post-its, papers, and books all over the place, and I haven’t eaten a decent meal in almost 2 weeks. I AM TIRED. 65 pages, 20 something litres of coffee, a written exam.. and 2 oral exams later I’m finally DONE. I have to say I was pretty nervous, I hate oral exams, my mouth and brain never seem to function together, my heart feels like its pounding its way through my oesophagus and onto the exam table. Man, just thinking about it makes me nauseous. And hearing that around 50% of the students failed and said they were pretty much slaughtered in there didn’t help at all. Anyways, I made it out the exam room alive, the first one not soo good but still a pass. The second one was weird.. in a good way. In the end of the exam I found myself laughing with the examiners and making small talk when we finished, I don’t really care if they were laughing at me or with me but it made me feel at ease.
So, so far soo good. I passed the first year! I have 3 months of summer break to recover from this.. I’m now back to 10% brain activity. My parents are coming to Denmark in a couple of weeks which I’m pretty excited about and in less than a month I’m off to the Philippines. But for now, I’m gonna make myself a big ass dinner, take a long and hot shower, and catch up on sleep.
I hope everything is good wherever you are!

Sabang, Palawan version 2
After new years, Nabs and I went to Sabang and decided to stay there for 3 nights. Public transportation both ways, which was scary but quite fun I must admit, I even got to ride at the top of the jeepney along with the bags of coal, rice, and chicken (which almost fell off on the highway). It was really nice, I’ve been to underground river before but never really got to explore Sabang that much.
What I didn’t know about Sabang was that electricity doesn’t run 24 hours, like in El Nido, it only comes at certain hours of the day. In Sabang it was from 5 or 6pm to midnight, luckily the cottage we stayed in was by the beach, so it was pretty breezy and sometimes even chilly in the morning. The weather was nice, the sun was shinning and the temperature was fine, not too hot, although it did rain a little bit.

Day 1, all we did was swim at the beach, the resort we stayed in (Mary’s) is at the very end of Sabang beach, but if you go further down the coconut trees you’d see another beach and a river where they have mangrove tours. I really like the beach there, less people. Scary thing about the beaches in Sabang is the undercurrent, it freaked me out a little bit and the waves, so trying to look all baywatch and all nah.. trying not to get sucked out into the ocean will be your main concern
We heard there was this place with waterfalls near by, so we decided to check it out the next day. I think it took us about 45 minutes to find the place, it wasn’t really that easy to walk through big rocks in flip-flops. The waterfalls was smaller than we expected, but it was really pretty. It was right by the beach and after walking through those big rocks it was nice to take a dip and enjoy the place.

So, apart from that all we did was bum around. We were planning to do the mangrove tour but we were too lazy, instead Nabs gave me a massage right by the beach. Mangrove tour VS massage by the beach?? easy choice. It was soo perfect, the beach, the wind, the beers, being away from the city, and being with Nabs.. it was just way too good to be true.

stupidity-algebra style
So, from destination A, I used Bus Xx to get to destination B. After my appointment in destination B I went to Bus Stop Xx to catch the bus back to destination A. I waited for n minutes and was wondering where Bus Xy was, until I realized Bus Stop Xx does not cancel out with Bus Xy. I was on the wrong side of the road stoooopid. So, right when I was about to cross the road, Bus Xy was on it’s way to Bus Stop Xy, I was screwed³. If I missed Bus Xy I would have to wait n² minutes. But at the same time I couldn’t just cross the road, or else I would most likely end up with the answer D, where D is for DEAD.
When I finally was able to cross the road, I ran xkm/minute but then asshole in Bus Xy decided to drive away from Bus Stop Xy even though he clearly saw me running for the Bus Xy, I was y meters away from Bus Xy, but noooooo.. asshole³ decided to give me another problem. Me waiting n² minutes for another Bus Xy, in t-degrees Centigrade while I was wearing -2c, wher c is what I should have been wearing.
Luckily, Bus Stop Xy happens to be Bus Stop Yy as well, meaning I only have to wait (n² – n) minutes =Yay² for me. Thing is I’ve never tried Bus Yy before, so I’d be ending up in destination C.
Fast forward, I was finally in destination C, so I made my way to destination A by foot. Right when I got in destination A, I lay down and spent N amount of hours online.
Bus Stop Xx+Bus Xy= stupidty³
Bus Xx+n² minutes+asshole³= Yay^-10
Bus Yy+Bus Stop Xy(Yy)+ (n²-n)= Yay²
Find Yay to the power of 10.

typical…
See, my apartment is right next to a train station, everyday on my way to school and back I take the train. Its convenient, fast, and with 10kg backpack carrying my laptop and my heavy books, this was nice. But today, the weather was sunny and warm, I missed my train, so I opted on taking the bus. From the bus stop to my apartment takes about 15 minutes, carrying my extremely heavy backpack, I decided to take the bus, the walk would do me good anyway and the weather was nice, I thought to myself.
So, I got on the the bus, for my 5 minute bus ride, looked out the window and enjoyed the sunshine.
Drive, drive, drive…
Right when I got out of the bus, the rain starts pouring. And this was not just “light ” rain, it was “get the fuck out of the rain unless you want to get your computer and your brand new school books that cost you a month and a half apartment rent wet“ rain. So there I was standing, dumbfound, in the rain. I look around for a place to shelter myself from this sick joke mother nature is playing on me, I found nothing. I knew there was a shelter about 5 minutes away, so I fast-walked as much as my legs and my thighs would allow me, the faster I walked the more my backpack dug into my shoulders cutting circulation to my arms. Pity was the expression on peoples faces as they drove past me.
As I finally reached the shelter, I wasn’t pissed yet, I was more concerned about my computer, which is my one and only source of entertainment and connection to the outside world. Courtesy of Samsonite, all my things were dry, waterproof laptop bags are awesome. So now it was time to bitch and moan and be pissed. I did that for about five more minutes until the rain passed.. so I continued my “nice walk”. I walked and walked.. and walked some more. My hair was wet, my shoes made that annoying squeaky noise, and my crotch was wet-and not in a sexy way. So I got home stripped off all my clothes, wrapped myself in my blanky, with a warm cup of tea and Lolcats and had a nice chat with my special someone…
So much for my nice afternoon walk.
Please bear with me, I needed to rant.

University
So, I’m back to school again.. back to books, waking up early, breaks, classmates, and teachers. Judging from the past 3 days I’ve been going to school, so far so good. I’m taking up International Communication and Multimedia. I’ve always wanted to take Multimedia but also marketing so I was lucky to find this with the International Communication part since marketing is part of our syllabus. But yeah, thing is, since I missed the first two weeks of class, I’m a little behind, academically and socially. I have to catch up on some reading and in my Media Production class I have to make a website, from scratch, as in wrting it by hand, but with the help of Dreamweaver.. hehe.. Anyways, socially, everyone else is in their own little groups, I had some casual conversations with some but that’s how far it got. But hey, I’m not giving up just yet.
Even though education here in Denmark is free, we have to pay for books, which is really fucking expencive. Just for this semseter I had to pay for 2992kr ($578) worth of books and this is only for this 1st semester. Haiiii…
I have also moved into my apartment. It’s weird having a place of your own, unlike the boarding school where you have your friends next door, food is served, and things are cleaned for you. Here, my friends aren’t next door, I have to cook my own food (buy them too!) and clean up after myself. This kind of independece didn’t hit me until I felt this weird feeling in my stomach, like this big hole getting bigger and bigger.. I think some people call it hunger? But yeah, it hit me even harder when I was buying a toilet brush. I am now totally alone, in this new apartment, in this new city, and new school.
Wish me luck.

busy bee
I’ve been travelling alone for years now, big and small airports, having less than 30 mins to catch my next plane, hardcore security checks, fucked up tickets, etc.. you get the point. BUT I have NEVER missed a flight…. until last week. I read the time wrong on my ticket from Hong Kong to Denmark, so yeah, I missed my flight. Ironic thing about this whole situation though was that I was totally sober, because for the past 4 times I left Palawan I was drunk and nothing happen, but this time I was totally sober, not even a drop of alcohol has been in my mouth within the last 24 hours then I miss a flight.
I really don’t know how I could have read the time wrong. So yeah, I was stranded in Manila, luckily I realized this in Manila, if I still flew to Hong Kong and realized that I missed my flight I would have been a lot more screwed.
So, I spent two nights in Manila with my moms friend, trying to figure out how to go back to Denmark, my dads solution was I fly to Oman and then from there fly to Denmark. So I flew to Oman and spent 11 days there. It was nice, Muscat (capital city) was like a city in the middle of the dessert, with temperatures no lower than 40′C. They had nice beaches, thing is it was Ramadan while I was there, so all shops were closed in the afternoon and there were no restaurants open until 7pm. But yeah, I got to see my parents again, especially my dad coz I didn’t get to spend much time with him while he was in Denmark for my graduation.
The bad thing about this whole situation, apart from wasting money, was that I was missing the first weeks of university. I missed Introduction week and the first week and a half of classes. So on Monday I have to go to some classes and then buy books, meet people.. etc… then I have to run to the other side of town to hand in my contract for my new apartment, get the keys, go to my apartment and check it out then take the train to my friends place (where I’m staying now) and get my stuff, then take the train back to my apartment and settle down. It will be a busy Monday for me.. I just hope I don’t look like a dumbass.
SO yeah, wish me luck!
